Reduce Headaches
Restore Balance
The vestibular system creates a sense of balance and spatial orientation needed for coordinating movement with balance. Dizziness, nausea, and imbalance are common obstacles following a concussion. Fortunately, these symptoms are usually not permanent and can be treated through vestibular physical therapy.
The eyes are controlled by the brain, so when someone experiences an injury to the brain, such as a concussion, the visual system can be affected thus affecting hand-eye coordination. At Ultimate Therapy, we will create the perfect challenge so you can re-gain coordination skills.

Following a head injury it is typical that individuals seek emergancy or urgent care. This is often the first time that they are given a concussion diagnosis. Other times people will self refer to Physical Therapy without seeing a medical doctor for other concerns such as neck pain following a fall or motor vehicle accident. It is not unusual to find evidence of a concussion that can be treated without medical consult. Medical consult is advised once a concussion is suspected.
Recovery time frame for a concussion will vary depending upon the severity and complexity of the injury. Recovery can be anywhere from a few days to lingering symptoms that never fully resolve.
Physical Therapists will guide you through an individualized recovery program including vestibular and occulomotor training, balance and proprioception activities and hands on treatment. Additionally, your therapist will provide you with education and resources for managing your condition moving forward.
Insurance covers physical therapy treatment for concussion rehabilitation. Always contact your insurance company to verify benefits.
