FAQ's

Got a question? We're here to help.

  • How many visits will I need?

The LSVT BIG protocol consists of 16 visits, four times a week.  It is recommended that patients schedule physical therapy at the same time of day.  Many patients schedule the visits one to two months in advance to coordinate transportation.

  • Can I participate in LSVT BIG if I use a walker or wheelchair?

Absolutely. The treatment can be customized for people who use wheelchairs, canes or walkers.

  • Are special tests such as MRI's needed before seeing a Physical Therapist for LSVT BIG?

No special tests are required prior to starting physical therapy.

  • Does insurance cover treatment for LSVT BIG?

Insurance covers treatment for Parkinson's Disease and other neurological conditions.  As with other medical services, your insurance may require a deductable, copayment or coinsurance fee.

  • Do I need a doctor's order to come to therapy?

Physical therapy is an open access state in Maryland. This means you can see a Physical Therapist without a doctor's order. Many insurances including Medicare do not require a doctor’s order. When we verify your benefits,  we will confirm if you need a referral. You can also call the number on the back of your card for clarification.
